In the early seventies, public relations and media began in the early seventies with a small unit of services in the university in the name of the communication unit. They were concerned with the work of public relations in terms of supervising and arranging the travel of the president / vice president, the vice dean and the deans in addition to supervising the reception of the university guests and creating the suitable atmosphere for them. In 1979, Hamad Fadl, the university's director, saw the importance of having a public relations and media unit in his office to be responsible for public relations and media at the university. Mr. Othman Abdel Majeed was appointed by the Ministry of Information to be the Director of Public Relations and Media at the Office of the Director. The director began issuing small periodicals covering the activities of the university's director in addition to a photographic unit. In 1986, Mr. Osman Abdel-Majid left Oman for Oman. In 2006, a committee was set up to consider the integration of the public relations and management departments into one department. The committee recommended merging the two media and public relations departments into one department. In 2007, Mr. Abdulmalik Al-Naim Ahmed was appointed to the Ministry of Information, the Foreign Information Council, and from his embassy in Cairo, a media attaché and consultant until April 2011. Mr. Hassan Mohammed Saleh was appointed Director of Media Department. the public. In April 2011, a decision was made to establish the current media and public relations department and became one of the departments affiliated to the university's agent. Mr. Abdulmalik Al-Naim Ahmed Awad was appointed as Director of Media and Public Relations as the new Dean.
